Introduction – Futurama
Strategically situated on the Kwa Zulu Natal South Coast the Futurama factory is owned and operated by the Loomes family. Having grown up in the area, Paul Loomes unswerving dedication and passion for fishing has evolved into operating the largest crustacean producing facility on the KZN south coast.
Coupled with a wealth of seafood knowledge, the Tightline and Futurama teams also control the majority of the fresh line fish landing along the south coast.
The Futurama factory is one of the biggest single employers in the area and has an employment equity policy unsurpassed in the sector.
The factory is HACCP complaint, FDA registered and complies with EU registration as well.
Oceanfresh currently uses Futurama as a co-packer for its Cape Fillets Brand, currently in the Costco stores in the USA.
Tightline / Futurama also produces products for the bugs 3 retailers within South Africa – Pick n’ Pay, Spar and Checkers.
Paul Loomes and his team bring dedication, quality and continuity of supply into the market place.
The facility has undergone extensive food safety audits as well as social audits, conducted by both NRCS and EU inspectors as well as independent audits by Costco – all of which are available for view on the ICiX system. Futurama focuses on crustacean production.
